Swatch is the world’s largest and most successful watch company, and continues to expand its range with the high quality, innovative creations of Swatch Bijoux, the youthful, confident and inspiring jewellery range.

The Swatch Brand was founded by Nicolas G. Hayek, born in 1928. The company single-handedly saved the Swiss watch industry which almost collapsed in the 1970s as a result of Japanese competition. The first ‘Swatch’ went on sale in 1983 and has become the best selling wrist watch of all time, its success down to the combination of top quality and affordable price, in an innovative and fun design. Hayek was awarded the title of Doctor honoris causa of the Faculty of Beni Culturali of the University of Bologna, Italy for his role in the revival of the Swiss watch industry. The name ‘Swatch’ is often misconstrued as a contraction of the words ‘Swiss Watch’ but the original contraction was in fact ‘Second Watch’.
