Anna and I were excited this week to go back to Spring Fair, one of the country’s biggest Trade Fairs, to look for new collections to launch on the Fabulous website.

Jo and Anna Spring Fair 2022

Having gone back though our Archives, we had already identified three designers whose work we used to stock, that we were keen to re-visit.

It is also always good to keep an eye on what is new and up-and-coming also, to see what we might be missing, so we were excited to see new designers also, and went with an open mind.

Since we closed the store in Leamington last October, we have taken a few months’ breather to sell through some of the remaining stock from the store, while we decide which collections we want to move forwards with.

Our plan is to focus solely on British designers and brands, bringing together the absolute best ideas and creativity of our wonderful country.

Some will be names you know and have loved for years – ChloBo and Ania Haie, for example. Others will be blasts from our past, before the big brands started to dominate the world of jewellery. And others still will be names new to you and us.

These will come gradually over the next few months, kicking off in March with some absolute treats.

What we saw at Spring Fair

The Show was excellent. It was colourful, busy, lively, and just a real treat to be back out at a show, seeing exciting new products. We have all spent too much time in the digital world lately, so it was brilliant to be able to chat to people IRL!

Spring Fair is also a haven for giftware and homewares buyers, along with halls full of greeting cards, balloons, kitchenware and almost anything else you can imagine – so it’s always a great fun show to visit. Always good to see trends and colours for next year, as so many buyers are there preparing for 2023.

Anyway, after much browsing and discussion and debate, we settled on re-introducing three collections that we have stocked over the years, that we know many of you loved. We are very excited to be bringing back the following during March:

Reeves and Reeves

Heath and Caroline Reeves are great friends of ours, and we have worked with them for years. Caroline helped us design our own ‘Life’s Journey’ collection, working with us to create the signature elliptical shapes that sits at the heart of the design.

A husband-and-wife team, they are based out of, and inspired by, the Dorset countryside, designing beautiful Sterling Silver pieces inspired by the natural world. Heath has been a frequent attendee at our famous Summer Garden Parties, where many of you have met him.

Their own Reeves and Reeves collection has always had a special place in our hearts, but we have never stocked it in our Fabulous store or online. We have shown it at the Garden Party many times, but it has never been a permanent feature of our collections.

So, we are delighted to be introducing many of Heath and Caroline’s designs inspired by the natural world to Fabulous. Look out in early March.

My Doris

Katie Williamson set up My Doris a few years ago, from her Suffolk studio, to bring together eclectic accessories from around the world. The quirky name comes from the nickname Katie’s Dad had for her Mum, whose name was nothing like Doris!

All handmade, Katie and her team now work in partnership with skilled artisans in India, Turkey and Uzbekistan, who take great pride in their crafts. Their traditions and techniques are what makes this collection so incredibly special.

Many of you will remember this vivid and colourful collection in our Leamington store in 2019, the year before lockdown hit. We also brought it to the Garden Party that year – gorgeous rings, earrings and bracelets in a multitude of colours. With My Doris – once it’s gone, it’s gone, as most collections are one-offs, sourced in small quantities for that season.

Look out for this in mid-March. And if you’re jetting off on holiday somewhere glamorous – you can’t go without treating yourself to a pair of truly fabulous beaded statement earrings that absolutely shout, ‘Let the fun begin!’

Shrieking Violet

You may not be familiar with this name, as we didn’t sell this gorgeous jewellery under that brand name, when we first stocked it almost a decade ago. We called it ‘Flower Jewellery’, as that described it perfectly.

Using genuine miniature flowers grown in the mountains of South America, Lash and Jez create delicate pieces of jewellery which preserve the real flowers in resin, and then set them in Sterling Silver.

They kicked it all off at Glastonbury Festival back in the 90’s, these hard-partying boys coming up with the idea after becoming entranced by a lone daisy in a field, as they watched the sunrise after a night’s dancing.

In our Solihull store, it was one of our bestselling collections for years, making a perfect gift for Mother’s Days, birthdays or ‘just because’ – these flowers that last a lifetime bringing the beauty and colour of nature to life in such a memorable way.

Look out for this lovely collection in March.
